FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the original honey oatmeal soap and the honey oatmeal soap with extra loofah?

Our original honey oatmeal soap has enough loofah fibers to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin without these fibers being detected.
Our honey oatmeal soap with extra loofah buffs and polishes the skin.  The loofah fibers can be felt on the surface of the skin for a deeper exfoliation.

What is the difference between the oatmeal used in your oatmeal soaps and the oatmeal sold in grocery stores?

The oatmeal we use in our honey oatmeal soap is the inner part of the oatmeal granule.  This is the part of the oatmeal where there is still  moisture.  The part that is discarded is the outer part of the oatmeal granule that tends to be dry, course, and grainy.

What are the ingredients in your honey oatmeal soap?

Please see our Formulation Process/Ingredients page for a list of our ingredients.

Why does The Honey Oatmeal Soap Shop use so much oatmeal in one soap bar?

We like to use a generous amount of oatmeal in each bar of soap because of the skin softening properties in oatmeal.  Oatmeal is made up of cellulose and fiber.  They make up the chief part of the cell walls in plants.  What these ingredients do for the skin is coat, moisturize, soften, and soothe even the most sensitive skin types.

Is the Honey Oatmeal Soap safe to use on acne?

Acne (vulgaris) will likely respond to the oatmeal in our honey oatmeal soap.  Oatmeal, in general will absorb oil from the skin's surface and reduce the redness of irritated broken-out skin.  Acne such as (cystic) and (rosacea) should be seen by a dermatologist.

Is the Honey Oatmeal Soap safe to use on eczema?

Eczema (dry patches) will likely respond to the oatmeal in our soap.  Oatmeal, in general seems to subdue the irritation, relieve redness and skin itching.

Many of our customers have experienced relief from skin itching due to eczema using our honey oatmeal soap with extra loofah.  It is also safe to use on insect bites, skin rashes, irritated skin, inflamed skin or inflamed skin due to constant skin itching.

Tip: When using our soap on irritated or inflamed skin, always use cold water. Ice cubes can also be applied to reduce swelling.

Please Note: The lipids in our oatmeal soaps impart lubricating and emollient properties into the skin. It is not necessary to use our honey milk oatmeal soap for these skin aliments.
